Our Overall Ratings, which we arrive at by applying a proprietary weighting formula, provide prospective on a retailer's health across all four components.

Although each of the four components is an important part of retailer health, we do not weight them evenly in reaching our Overall Ratings. Relative weightings are determined through analysis of each of the four components' strength of correlation to the retailers' results on commonly used financial metrics such as return on assets, net income margin, total investment return and return on invested capital.

Component Strength

We display the Overall Rating for each retailer alongside its ratings in the four components. The overall and component ratings are color-coded to a tier system.
